Dots & Dashes

Like many artists who work in clay, I started out making pots, and still do from time to time. There is something very elemental in creating an object that someone else will eat or drink from, something they will hold and use on a daily basis.

In 2012 I experimented with terra cotta for the first time. I fell in love with the bright colors of my beloved underglazes against the rich warmth of the red clay, and spent the summer hand building cups and bowls. At the very end of the year I began to slip-cast cups using a ^6 porcelain and my “mid-century modern” mold. All work was fired in oxidation.
